IMPORTANT NOTICE TO CUSTOMERS LOCATED IN THE UNITED STATES
All of our jewelry is USMCA-compliant and is 100% handmade in Canada. This means our jewelry is therefore exempt from tariffs.
Due to the overwhelming changes at US customs, on occasion we've seen jewelry shipments receive tariffs that should not have. If you mistakenly receive tariff charges on your order, please contact us ASAP and we will help resolve the issue.
Sales charges will be taxed as normal at the border, the same as if you were purchasing from a local retailer.
If you are mistakenly charged tariffs, FedEx advises to dispute with them directly. Please open a dispute as soon as possible with their US duty disputes department who will investigate with their brokerage department and CBP US Customs.
In order to file a dispute for mistakenly charged tariffs:
- Please complete the appropriate dispute form (dispute US payor PDF). Located here: Dispute Form (fillable in browser)
- US payer submit form to: DutyTaxDisputes@fedex.com
- Subject Title: Blanket Dispute AWB# [YOUR TRACKING HERE] / USMCA on File with FXL
- Reason for dispute: “Blanket USMCA on file with FXL - US Customs/FedEx broker error - should have applied USMCA. Please adjust this error and apply USMCA immediately - file PSC/protest to correctly file USMCA entry.”
You may CC us at shipping@sofiazakia.com and we will do our absolute best to support your claim during this process.
Any time charges are contested, the payer must file a dispute. The charges will be put on hold and frozen until the dispute has been resolved.
Please note: regulatory, disputes, customs are all overloaded and backlogged right now, which has caused delays in processing.
