Questions on Orders
Each piece is completely designed, carved, engraved, hand-cast, set, polished, finished, and thoughtfully wrapped in our Montreal jewelry studio. We have an enduring commitment to environmental principles, from artisanal studio methods to non-toxic, low energy requirements for local production. We work with Canadian suppliers as well as artisanal and small-scale mining and cutting operations to find materials that support social and economic impacts at the source.

We try our best to offer inclusive sizing. Our website does not include all the sizes we offer. If you do not see your size listed (including quarter sizes), please e-mail us and we will do our best to meet your needs!
Don’t panic! We recommend going to a local jeweller to determine your proper ring size. Alternatively, inexpensive ring sizers are available for purchase online. You may also try to use this website to determine your ring size. Please note that we are responsible for sending you the ring size you ordered. Mandrels and sizers may vary internationally, so please do your best to find a US ring sizer, as we are not responsible for determining your ring size or accommodating returns based on inaccurate ring sizing outside of our production studio.
Questions on Shipping
Yes! We are happy to provide international shipping. We are unable to ship to Ascension Island, India, Kuwait, Luxembourg, Malta, Russia, Ukraine, Switzerland, or Tristan da Cunha at this time.
All prices quoted below are in USD$ currency. Please note the following rate structure for most orders:

All jewelry pieces are shipped via Canada Post or FedEx and come with tracking. Signature can be added at checkout by selecting the appropriate shipping method. Packages are shipped out the day they are completed.
For stationery and small home goods, shipping is calcualted at checkout.

We are not responsible for lost parcels or delays due to weather or holds at customs. If you would like a shipment delivered there, please consider an alternative recipient address.
In Quebec we must charge GST/QST, as well as federal tax in the rest of Canada.
Prices listed on the website do not include duties or taxes. Please be informed of your country’s import policies before committing to a purchase, as any taxes, duties or customs upon delivery are the responsibility of the buyer, and are in no way controlled by Sofia Zakia.
Yes! Please set the ship-to address at checkout to Sofia Zakia and indicate in the “message” portion of your order that you will be coming for local pick-up and we will refund your shipping cost and we will email you once your order is ready for pick-up.
All Sofia Zakia pieces are displayed and charged in USD.
Our pieces are delicate by nature, so we encourage our customers to take extra care when wearing Sofia Zakia pieces, especially rings. Please try to remove jewelry when doing rough handwork that may damage the stones. We also recommend removing your jewelry when washing your hands, showering and sleeping.
Sofia Zakia is not responsible for broken or lost stones, however we offer stone replacements for a reasonable repair fee. We also offer polishing and resizing of most Sofia Zakia products. Kindly note that eternity band models cannot be resized.
For the most up-to-date production timeline, please check the pop-up agreement window during the checkout process.
All jewelry pieces are made to order, so please allow a minimum of 14 business days for jewelry to be made before shipping.
During periods of higher volume, such as the holidays, production time may increase to 3-4 weeks. Please write requested deadline date at time of order in order for our team to best meet your needs.

Our pieces come elegantly packaged in uncoated cotton board from sustainable sources with our logo foil stamped in rose on the box lid, which rest assured is very pretty. Non-jewelry items arrive in their own individual packaging, often vellum or tissue-wrapped. If you wish to have further gift wrapping, the option for it is available here. If you would like a personalized card included, please let us know with your order.
Sofia Zakia cannot guarantee that colours represented on the website will exactly match the jewelry you receive. Since all pieces are handmade and come from raw materials, please anticipate minor variations in colour and texture. Rest assured that the piece you will receive will be uniquely yours!
Questions on Custom Work
Yes! We do offer bespoke engagement rings and other commissioned pieces. Should you be interested in this, please navigate to the bespoke form to discuss requirements.
Please note that bespoke pieces may take 6 or more weeks to create, depending on the complexity of the project.
In most cases, this shouldn’t be a problem. If you don’t see the gemstone(s) you are interested in having on your Sofia Zakia piece in the drop-down menu of the product, please e-mail us. Kindly note that stone customization may not always be available, and the cost will reflect the changes made.
Yes. Should you be interested in having a piece custom engraved (not stamped), please contact us by e-mail for rates and styles offered. Most pieces can be laser engraved with text. Select pieces can be hand-engraved.
You are very lucky to have a beautiful heirloom stone! We are currently closed to setting heirloom stones into existing Sofia Zakia pieces or custom designs at this time.
Returns & Exchange Policy
Please note that as all Sofia Zakia pieces are made to order, they are final sale and we do not accept returns, so please be sure of the piece you’re looking at before you purchase! If you are hesitant and have any questions, please contact us prior to placing an order. Once an order has been placed, we put it into production and it cannot be cancelled. We offer free repairs of pieces within 30 days of receipt. Please see our full repair policy for details. We reserve the right to decline unreasonable repairs.
If a piece shipped to you is defective or damaged, you must return the item within 7 days of receipt. We will make necessary repairs and return it to you.Repair Policy Steps:Please contact us with your Order # and please indicate this on the outside of your return package.For repairs being sent from outside of Canada, please indicate the Harmonized Code (details here) on the commercial invoice or customs slip. The Harmonized Code "HTS" code should indicate "9813.00.00", and must include the description "Canadian goods returning to Canada for repair under warranty". Failure to do so may result in duties/taxes incurred, which will be the responsibility of the customer to expense.
Due to the delicate nature of Sofia Zakia pieces, it is normal for small prongs to move and for patina to develop over time. Rings may become misshapen as they take to the natural curvature of your finger. In order to ensure your piece maintains its appearance, please avoid sleeping, water, and perfumes while wearing your piece. Avoid colliding or grinding your piece against surfaces and take care to store your pieces individually in a cool, dry place when not being worn.As gold is a soft metal, it has a tendency to scratch and change, so extra care should be taken when wearing to maintain quality and appearance.Should you wish to enquire about repairs due to everyday wear and tear, please contact us.Please note that pieces resized/modified outside of our studio invalidate warranty and may be subject to additional fees.We reserve the right to decline unreasonable repairs.Sofia Zakia is not responsible for broken or lost stones, however we offer stone replacements for a reasonable repair fee. Repair fees will be established at the time of receipt or via e-mail if substantial photos can be provided.
Sofia Zakia reserves the right to charge a 5-10% transaction fee from your chosen payment processor on cancelled orders already in production.We cannot accept cancellations on orders placed through Affirm or AfterPay.The transaction fee will be deducted from your refund. We also reserve the right to charge a 15% restocking fee on returns.Please note that as all Sofia Zakia pieces are made to order, they are final sale and we do not accept returns, so please be sure of the piece you’re looking at before you purchase! If you are hesitant and have any questions, we are happy to help!
Please contact us before placing an order.
Once an order has been placed, we put it into production and it cannot be cancelled. If you have any emergency requests, it is possible to change ring size or cancel within 4 hours of the order having been placed given that the order is placed on a business day (Monday to Friday 9:00am - 6:00pm, excluding Canadian national holidays). As most pieces are made-to-order, once production begins they cannot be cancelled. Once 4 hours has passed we no longer accept cancellations or refunds. Ready to ship orders are non-cancellable. We reserve the right to refuse unreasonable cancellation requests.
Please note that Written in the Stars bands and bespoke pieces cannot be cancelled at any time due to the bespoke nature of the items.We also recommend that you confirm the appropriate size for your rings prior to placing your order online. Please email us before ordering if you are unsure.
All international orders (outside Canada) are final sale. We are unable to accept international returns due to Canadian import regulations. We are also not able to issue refunds for duties & taxes paid by the recipient, as these fees are remitted to the destination country's customs and is in no way controlled by Sofia Zakia. If you need to inquire about duties & taxes, please contact your local customs agency.
